Burning Man Visual Direction: Opulent Temple & Camp Questionmark

Two nights, two very different kinds of pressure: a Saturday-night run at Opulent Temple and a Thursday-night takeover at Camp Questionmark, both inside the dust, scale, and improvisational pace of Burning Man.

Morgan Lavery led visuals for both stages, bringing a road-tested VJ rig, custom animation, and a live content system built to stay responsive when the night started moving faster than the plan.

The work was about listening as much as triggering clips: reading the artist, the crowd, the stage surfaces, and the weird little moments that only happen on playa, then pushing the visuals forward in real time.

For these sets, the system was built to move quickly between prepared animation worlds and live decisions from the booth, letting the visuals react to the stage, the artist, and the room-scale momentum of the night.
