What began with a 75-foot LED video ceiling became a seven-year creative and technology partnership. For Tonic Lounge in Reno, MELT has continued to shape the club’s visual environment through custom animation, design guidance and new display technology.
A ceiling that changed the room The relationship began with a six-figure installation: an LED video ceiling measuring 75 feet long by 12 feet wide. The 900-square-foot canvas made moving imagery part of the architecture, giving the nightclub an expansive surface for evolving visual content.
Keeping the environment moving The work continued well beyond the original installation. MELT developed new content for the club and recommended additional designs and technology as the venue evolved. Content packages dating to 2019 included quarterly animation updates and custom sign content; later collections expanded the visual library.
From Shenzhen to the dance floor As Tonic’s trusted technology partner, MELT worked through established contacts in Shenzhen, China, to source factory-direct holographic video fans for the nightclub. The relationship brought hardware sourcing and creative production together, with custom content developed for the new displays.
The latest fan content The September 2026 update explores optical patterns, luminous floral portraits, molten gold and mechanical forms. Circular compositions sit against black, keeping the imagery focused on the fans’ display area. Individual animations are prepared as looping content, with a separate montage bringing the collection together.
The selections here show six individual animations and stills from that delivery package, allowing the motion, surface detail and range of the visual language to be explored up close.
